The Budgerigar is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot native to Australia, nicknamed the budgie.
Budgerigars feed almost exclusively on the seeds of native herbs and grasses, such as porcupine grass and saltbush. Seeds are mostly eaten from the ground and the bulk of drinking and feeding activity is in the morning.
Our Budgerigars give us a great opportunity to learn about Australian native animals, their habitat and needs. They chirp and chat all day long at ‘Our Backyard’ and we love the playful sounds they provide.
Our Budgerigars are lovely to watch as they groom each other and play around in their aviaries.
